Beginners

If you are brand new to the cross stitching world, WELCOME!!! This is one of the most beautiful crafts in the world, in my opinion. My mother taught me when I was about seven years old and I haven't stopped since. I have been doing this for about 20 years and love it more and more everyday. These are a few ideas/tips for you guys. I hope you find them useful and feel free to comment!

Please start out with smaller projects. Trying to start on a huge 20 x 24 Thomas Kincade counted cross stitch picture is gonna do nothing but make you frustrated and hate this craft that so many love. I would strongly recommend smaller 5 x 7's or the "weekender" projects that are simple and easy to do. They give you a good, but basic feel for cross stitching and can be found around the same isle in the local craft store such as Michael's or A.C. Moore.

Remember to always tape or zig zag the edges of your fabric before starting the first stitch. Otherwise you'll end up with a 1" x 2" frayed messed by the time you get that far. Also be sure to cut the floss in half and seperate it before starting as well. This is will make for a quicker switching process when changing colors and not get you out of the stitching rythem to do this. These are just a few tips on th beginnings of crss stitching.

Ok that's just a start, will post more as time goes along.
